What is CBD

What is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a compound “phytocannabinoid” discovered in 1940. It is one of 113 identified cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, CBD does not produce a psychoactive effect meaning it doesn’t cause a “high.” CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). This complex network of receptors regulates various functions, including sleep, mood, pain, and inflammation.

How does CBD work?

CBD interacts with the ECS by influencing the levels of endocannabinoids, the natural compounds produced by the body. This interaction can help regulate bodily functions and may contribute to potential health benefits.

Potential benefits of CBD:

  • May help reduce pain and inflammation
  • Can promote relaxation, reduce anxiety and depression
  • Might improve sleep quality
  • Can alleviate cancer-related symptoms
  • Might have neuroprotective properties
  • May reduce acne
  • Could benefit heart health
  • Could support overall well being

 Is CBD safe?

CBD is generally considered safe when used appropriately. However it’s essential to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other medications.

The World Health Organization reports that CBD exhibits no abuse or dependence potential in humans. There’s no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD. A recent study in the journal Neuropsychopharmacology concluded that acute CBD alone is relatively unlikely to impair daily functioning or workplace performance.”

CBD and THC:

CBD and THC are both compounds found in cannabis. While they share some similarities, they have distinct effects. CBD is non-psychoactive, while THC is the compound responsible for the “high” associated with marijuana.

CBD Nature Wellness CBD products are derived 100% from industrial organically grown hemp plants. Products labled CBD, by law must be derived from hemp plants and under 0.3% or less of THC. This amount is not enough to cause intoxication, which is why hemp-derived CBD products are available throughout the U.S. In contrast, the Merijuana plant contains high THC yet low CBD concentrations. Both hemp and marijuana plants can be sources of CBD, but their THC levels differ significantly. Hemp and marijuana plants may look similar, but are not the same plant.
